Our Thoughts on The Question
Matt's: Biology affects the outcomes of war because, depending on one side's current state of biological advancement it could mean life or death for the soldiers. If the enemy is more advanced than you, they could develop a new kind of chemical weapon that you wouldn't be able to fight, and in vice versa, and this would cause many problems for the soldiers. Plus if a new disease pops up in the middle of war and one side isn't able to fight it many could be killed leading to the enemy's victory. So in short, Biology could be the deciding factor in a war.
Brittany's: Biology affects the outcomes of war by involving chemical warfare as well as diseases that had flooded throughout the countries; spreading within the armies and soldiers within them which in result, killed them off slowly due to it. The chemical gases they had used within the war is chlorine and mustard gas. Chlorine gas was a non-liquefied gas that would be exposed freely into the air; causing the victims that had been exposed to it causing them to choke, tear up which causes the victim to be temporarily blind, and die slowly due to being unable to breathe due to the poisonous air they had inhaled which was the exposed gas. Mustard gas is a liquid gas in which if it touches or hits a victim, the victims skin will begin to welt and create horrible burning blisters in various shapes, sizes, etc, in reaction to the liquid gas. As for diseases, the most commonly known disease that was spread all around WWI is the Spanish flu. Due to armies, countries, soldiers, and citizens not being able to fight nor be able to find a cure to this disease; in result, many had died. The Spanish flu became one of the main reasons why so many had died in WWI other than war reasons and causes. Overall, the biology affects the outcomes of war by one, being used in warfare as a weapon. And two, could be a possibility of death causes within the war.
Henry S: Biology affects the outcome of the War in that biology is the factor that helped create gases and the masks that fight them. Biology also affected the soldiers in the way of disease in the trench, such as Trench Foot, Trench Mouth, Spanish Flu etc. Although Biology was not always good, it helped in creating vaccines for the previously mentioned diseases. Biology also played in the role of figuring out an effective way to use gases to kill and maim. The Respiratory System is the main part of the body that is affected by these gases, for example chlorine gas makes you lungs fill up with bodily fluids and you then drown in them. 0
